Recovery cogeneration plant (RCGP-2)
Work at NLMK Lipetsk continues to build the site’s second Recovery Co-Generation Plant (RCGP-2) rated at 300 MW. RCGP-2 will be powered by secondary energy resources: by-product gases from the site’s ironmaking and steelmaking facilities. This will bring the in-house electric power generation from 64% to 94 %, and reduce carbon oxide (CO) emissions by 3,000 tonnes per year and greenhouse gas (СО2) emissions by 650,000 tonnes per year. In 2023, NLMK completed the construction of the plant’s power distribution system. RCGP-2 continues the installation of core and auxiliary equipment. Start-up is scheduled for 2025.
