NLMK Group Environment Strategy 2030
Having completed the 2022 Strategy and achieved its strategic environmental goals, NLMK Group adopted its Environment Programme 2030. It has more than 100 projects planned that will help reduce the harmful impact on nature.
NLMK Group 2030 objectives within the Environmental Programme
In selecting solutions for environmental programme projects, NLMK is guided by the best available technologies (BAT).
Air
- Reduction of gross emissions by 11,000 tonnes representing a 4% decrease vs. 2023. This includes a 16% reduction in dust emissions
- Prevention of exceedances of atmospheric standards within the sanitary protection zones (SPZ) in the cities where NLMK Group operates

Water
- Complete elimination of effluent discharges in the Voronezh River (Lipetsk) and the Iset River (Yekaterinburg)
- Reducing the flow of controlled substances into water bodies across the Group by 6,800 per year (-78%)

Land
Elimination of soil contamination risks on an area of 63,800 m2

Recycling
- Reducing waste disposal volumes at third-party landfills by 30,000 tonnes (-31%) by 2030
- Achieving a target effect on EBITDA from recycling projects of RUB 1 billion per year
- Maintaining a recycling rate of over 99%
